I.Can’t. Even. This single piece of jewelry may have changed my life. Dramatic much? Well, possibly. But, maybe not. While drowning my sorrows in good old fashioned retail therapy (well the internet kind at least) I came upon this website and I HAD TO HAVE THIS. Sometimes things speak to you. And no that doesn’t mean only “things” make you happy. But amidst the hectic days of normal life- we all need some tokens that make it all worth it. Not only did I love the uniqueness of the item itself, but the company (The Giving Keys) allows you to engrave words (up to a certain amount of characters). And to top it off- some proceeds go to helping others (plus, they encourage you to pass on the pieces when you no longer need the reminder)!
I chose “qui estis” which roughly translates into “be who you are” from Latin. I have long loved this saying and somehow putting on something tangible made the saying really start to come true for me. I was starting to actually like myself and who I am. So cliché in a way, but honestly so true. By the time you put on all your social graces, give 100% at your job, a 120% for your family and about 2% sleep- you can really lose yourself. Ever been driving in your car and realize you were thinking of so many things to do and so many tasks to complete, that you literally do not know how you got to where you are going? Yes, my friends…it happens to us all. And that is OK. However, you do need some time for yourself. Doing something you love; wearing something that you adore, participating in something just for you. And for goodness sake- like yourself!
So maybe it was my exhausted mind spiraling into a hallucination state, or maybe it was inspiration from this personalized, often complimented necklace, but whatever it was- things have changed and for the better. Qui estis my fellow do-it-all-ers; qui estis.
