Need a great getaway spot? Want to just leave it all behind and put thinking into a tiny little box for a weekend…or dare I say week? I know I do. Right before spring fully emerges, I get the itch to plan a vacation and immediately I want it to be fantastic. And when I think of my favorite place- I think of this gem. The Gazebo Inn in Ogunquit, Maine is by far the best choice and that checks off all my boxes. Let me tell you why.
My, oh my, it is GORGEOUS (see pics below; gawk- and then return for my explanation)
Nestled in an old re-refurnished barn are both rooms and suites decorated to perfection and they boast the most comfortable settings. Special touches of personality and luxury linens put the cherry on top of this top-quality bed and breakfast destination. They have thought of everything including specialty to-order gift baskets and butter-soft sheets. They Inn Keepers were kind enough to allow me to take photos of the grounds even though I wasn’t technically a guest at that time. They actual recall me which means one of two things: one- I have come so often they cannot help remember me, or two- they are the friendliest humans. Ok- probably both!
The People
The Inn Keepers are simply the best (read above). They are happy to give you a grand tour- or if you prefer- they can make themselves scant. They are super knowledgeable of the inn’s surroundings and will give honest recommendations that fit your style and tastes about the area. They are devoted, dedicated and delightful (they also have other locations).
Perfect location
In Ogunquit (Maine), the Gazebo Inn is right on the “main drag” as the locals say. This beautiful location is close to: downtown, the beach and restaurants. It is a perfect starting point for a walk into the boutique-filled town center or a trolley ride around the many sites to visit and see.
The Food
Ok. Let’s get serious here. Let’s talk food. If you only eat the handmade scones that are laid out on the daily you will be a happy individual. But, the breakfast here is amazing. And I barely get up on vacation (I treasure my uninterrupted sleep) and I drag my sorry butt out for their wonderful selection. Also, the eating area is separated from the main quarters- a thoughtful consideration at a B&B.
If I haven’t convinced you…
Then you’re a pretty hard sell! Visit the site to see the amazing pictures of each room or suite to see which one fits you best. For me (and my husband) this place will always be a favorite. I get a welcome basket including etched champagne glasses and will soon have a set of 8 as a great memento. We always visit at least once a year and look forward to returning as soon as we leave. So go! Enjoy! Then, let me know how good of a time you had!
